Worthy Knights,
We have two fellow Knights who have passed on very recently. I am writing to make sure you are aware and ask for your prayers for both of them and their families.
Victor Torbeck
Victor passed at home on September 10. Victor's relationship with the Knights goes back almost 60 years. He became a 3rd Degree Knight in 1967. Mobility had become very difficult for him the last few years of his life but as many of you know, Victor continued to attend many of our meetings despite the challenges. His mere presence was an inspiration to all. Please read his obituary here:
Philip Wolcott
Brother of parishioner Susie Cravens, Philip passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 10, 2026. As he was not with our council very long, I asked Susie to share some background and here is what she wrote:
Philip was born in Venezuela and grew up in Venezuela, France and England. In 1969 he moved up to Marco Island, FL with his parents and lived there until 2005 when he came up to live in New Hampshire. Later, he moved down to Tampa, FL for a few years. It was at a parish there that he first found out about and became a Knight six years ago. Three years ago he came up to live with Susie and transferred to our council at St Denis. Earlier this year he became too debilitated and was moved to a nursing care facility in Newport.
Philip struggled with physical disabilities throughout his life that made it hard to hold down any kind of a job. He never married and had no children. He was very generous, friendly and social by nature and struggled all his life to be accepted and fit in. He was also very religious and worked hard at trying to bring others closer to God. Although he found the Knights much later in life, Philip was extremely proud to be a Knight and valued the sense of fraternity.
Brother Knights, please pray for the repose of the souls of Victor and Philip, and for the comfort of their families.
Vivat Jesus,
Erik
