The council embarked on a two year project to replace the main stage curtains at Saint Joseph Regional School in Keene, NH. The old curtains were identified by the fire department as needing to be removed to meet current fire code requirements due to their age and construction. The back stage curtains were in a state of significant disrepair with large patches of torn material and several sections repaired in a patchwork manner over the years and sections of the backstage area had become impromptu material storage areas. The council took upon themselves the task of removing all of the backstage curtains, and worked hand in hand with school staff at the task of clearing the stage of the years of accumulated materials, wooden cabinets, and outdated equipment, cleaning the stage from floor to ceiling, repairing and repainting the walls and ceiling, and installing metal shelving units for storage of band instruments. New curtains for the backstage were ordered and installed last year upon completion of the restoration work, and new front stage curtains were purchased and installed this fraternal year to complete the project. In all just over $10,000 of time and material were donated by the council to the school as part of this effort and an ongoing renewal of support for the school's facility needs.
