COR/Men of St. Joseph

Council 6850 and St Joseph Parish's Men of St. Joseph have combined to form a COR program. We meet monthly for faith, fellowship fraternity. We are currently using the series "Into the Breach" as a guide to our conversations

The program is led by our priest, Fr. David Gagnon.

We start with a Mass at 7:00 AM followed by fellowship with socialization and snacks made by attendees or family. We then viewed the "Masculinity" video from "Into the Breach" followed by a discussion facilitated by Fr David.

Feedback from participants has been great and we are hoping to grow this program in our parish and the Knights.

Patriotic Rosary:

Praying the Patriotic Rosary, a special form of the Rosary dedicated to the US, focusing on prayers for the nation's leaders and citizens.

We pray this rosary for those who have served our nation and our country, our present and past Veterans, many who have given up much including their lives for the freedom we profess.
|

Main fund raiser for Council 6850 to raise money to help support all the projects that we do within the church and community.

We do a steak and cheese sub, hamburgers and hot dog stand at the Raymond NH Town Fair. We are one of the not-for-profit food vendors left at this fair. This was our 36th year at the fair. We were able to raise approx $4,500 this year. We start about a month before to get ready with many man hours to prepare the trailer and vendors that help with donations and the purchase of product and scheduling. Then the day of is along day as we have to transport the trailer and all the goods and set everything up. This year Deacon Eric set up and staffed a display to promote the Rosary.

We sold a lot of steak and cheese, hamburgers and hot dogs, as we were the only stand that was a not-for-profit organization. We had a couple of newer Knights step up to assist in chairing this event to take over in the future as well as some of our newer Knights volunteered at the stand.

Over all it went well! All the proceeds help fund our other projects throughout the year in the church and community.
|

This year our council will be holding monthly breakfasts after Mass in order to enhance our ability to make known the good work of the council and provide opportunities to grow our membership, as well as create a sense of community. We had 8 members and their spouses prepare muffins, breads, coffee and juice at the first one in September. A total of 16 guests showed up and were very appreciative of our efforts as they expressed this directly to the Grand Knight when leaving after the hour was over. Our goal is to identify at least one new member by holding these events throughout the year.
|

Our parish has just a single maintenance man serving three different churches and the rectory, as well as oversight at the school. Thus, simple maintenance like painting the railing at the church entrance serves a charitable purpose to the church itself by taking that responsibility and cost of labor off the church and upon the Knights. It serves as a time for the Council Brothers to bond in the work of a common cause enhancing our fraternal mission. And most importantly, it makes the church look nicer! St. Joseph Church has a steel railing that is painted black at the front entrance of the church. Due its proximity to state road 119 there is a lot of salt damage to contend with so the railing needs a lot of maintenance. The project involved sanding down areas where rust was coming through, priming and painting the finish coat.
|

Our council held its semi-annual fall yard sale as a fundraising project to make a donation and help support our parish. Several of our Knights collected items from parishioners after each weekend Mass. We also provided pick-up of items from parishioners who needed help to get their donations to our church. The event was a great success, raising over $1,000.00 in just a few hours. The event provided not only a social event for the parish, it also served to bring our brother knights to a day-long event working together and enjoying each other's company. Ultimately, strengthening a brotherhood of Catholic men and helping us to grow in union with our Lord.
|
